I began to notice "girl issues", such as gossip, confidence issues, body image and eating habits in my 7 year old daughter and her friends, that started way before I ever imagined. As hard as we, as parents, try to put into our kids the right info, we're not the only ones that are affecting them; and sometimes it's their peer group that is affecting their "girl issues" at this age where they begin to try to discover who they are. I also wanted to teach my daughter how to enjoy a healthy lifestyle of exercise and eating, with "enjoy" being the key to making it a lifestyle.
Sure, we've all made mistakes, and parenting is not easy. That's why I decided to take a group of girls, while they're still young, and team up with willing moms, who have the same desire of giving these young girls a peer group, where they can learn a healthy lifestyle of exercise, eating and thinking, all done through a fun atmosphere.
I began to think, and when I was in school, I always looked forward to field day. It was a day that even the "girly girls" could get away with being a tomboy. Well, that's the type of atmosphere that we want to have each time we meet as Chicks on the RUN, a physically challenging hour, packed with motivation and information, all while having FUN!
If we can just affect one young girl, then it will be worth it, but I believe it will affect each young girl that joins us on this fun journey. Hope to see you on the RUN!

I am getting excited about the program starting & I can't wait for the girls to see all of the fun things I have planned for this session. We have all kinds of things from agility ladders, safety cones, walking stilts, moon shoes, parachutes, flying discs & all sorts of fun games we will be using them for. This is really going to be a fun time for each girl that participates! |
